COVID-19 - Update on hearing health services at Cubex: 30th March 2020
On 23rd March 2020, the Government issued further guidance and restrictions to help slow the spread of COVID-19. The provision of our hearing healthcare services has been deemed an essential service by the government, which means that we could, in theory, remain operational. However, the safety of our patients and staff is of paramount importance and because of this, we will be limiting our service delivery for the time being.
Please read the information below which will explain how we will continue to support your hearing and communication health during this period.
We thank you in advance and appreciate your understanding and continued support as we all navigate through this challenging period.
Customer Services & Patient Relations
Our Customer Services team will be available via email at customerservices@213.175.217.238, Monday to Friday, 10am-4pm and they will also be available to answer phone calls on 020 7935 5511 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10am-4pm. If calling outside of these hours, please leave a message, and a member of the team will get back to you as soon as possible. Please note that our team members will be operating remotely, and it is likely that you will receive a quicker response if emailing.
In-clinic Consultations
Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer any in-clinic services for the time being. It is essential for us to play our role in slowing the spread of the virus. Your health and safety, and that of our staff are of paramount importance to us. However, self-administered hearing sensitivity tests can be arranged onsite at Cubex requiring no direct contact with a Cubex representative. Please read further for more information on Self-administered hearing sensitivity tests.
Supporting NEW treatment plans
If you are an experienced hearing aid wearer and would like to stay on top of your hearing health and technology, then new treatment plans can still be arranged and supported remotely. Provided you have managed to remain up to date with your annual hearing healthcare review, then we are able to support a new treatment plan with new technology and complete all necessary personalising, optimising of technology and provide the necessary counselling and support. All patients will be required to complete a video consultation with our Audiologist before moving forward with a new treatment technology plan. In some cases, you will be required to complete a cognitive hearing assessment which we will e-mail to you for completion.
Self-Administered Hearing tests
If you have NOT remained up to date with annual hearing health review, then you still have the option of attending Cubex where you will be required to complete a self-administered hearing sensitivity test requiring minimal to no contact with a Cubex Audiologist. The test is extremely straight forward and provides an up to date measurement of your hearing sensitivity. However, we will provide you with pre-instruction via an initial video consultation before you attend. In addition to the self-administered hearing sensitivity test, you will also be required to complete a cognitive hearing assessment which will be e-mailed to you for completion at home. This will allow us to gather as much data regarding your hearing and communication ability and enable us to provide a highly individualised treatment plan with technology that is optimised specifically for your abilities. However, in order to protect our staff, we urge you to please comply with our Safety guidelines for patients and guests when visiting Cubex and ensure that you are always acting according to government-recommended safety guidelines.Details regarding self-administered hearing test schedules will be shared with you next week.
Telephone/Video Consultations
We would be pleased to offer you the option to book a telephone or video (Skype, FaceTime, or Zoom) consultation. We can discuss any concerns you may have regarding your hearing and communication needs and try to troubleshoot any difficulties that you may be experiencing with your hearing and treatment technology. Cognitive hearing Assessments & Training, meditation & mindfulness-based guidance and tinnitus counselling are also set up to be accessible to you remotely.See here for a detailed list of consultancy that can be carried out via virtual channels. Appointments for these consultations will be available on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10am-4pm. Please contact the Customer Services team to book a session.
Hearing Lab
We will continue to offer our hearing lab services for 1st line repairs of your hearing technology. Hearing devices that require our attention can be posted to Cubex, as before. Alternatively, we will be offering a drop-off option where you can arrange to deliver your hearing technology through our post slot, located to the left of our doorway at 25 New Cavendish Street. Please ensure that your valuable devices are packaged safely and securely, and should include your name, date of birth, address, and a brief description of the fault. We will communicate with you as soon as we can and will let you know if the device can be attended to “in-house” or if it will require repair by an external laboratory. Please be aware that our staff will be mostly working remotely and only visiting the clinic to attend to post, hearing Lab and other urgent matters. The front door will always be lockedPlease note that priority will be given in the following order:1.
