Adam Shulberg

Senior Audiologist and Managing Director

FSHAA RHAD

Adam’s desire to practise audiology began at the tender age of 13 while assisting his father with Ear Health camps in Sri Lanka and Kenya.

In 1980, he qualified as the youngest audiologist in the UK, graduating from the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital, Gray’s Inn Road.

By 1984 he’d become actively involved in running an Audiology clinic in Madrid, with offshoots in Northern and Southern Spain, whilst also establishing himself in the UK practice. Adam stepped into the Managing Director role at CUBEX in 1995 when the London-based clinic moved to New Cavendish Street, Marylebone.

His humanistic values and personalised approach to patient care has been felt far and wide. Adam set up a sustainable Audiology programme in Western Nepal in 2001 and has been responsible for facilitating, training and supervising 7 Community Ear workers and over 700 volunteers.

Adam believes implicitly that audiology professionals need a deep understanding of the human dynamics associated with an individual’s hearing impairment. He spends a great deal of time getting to know the personal dynamics relating to his patients’ communication partners and families.

“We look at the whole person and all the complexities and nuances of their life situation. This almost always requires a lot more time and personal discussion than a conventional consultation but it’s really crucial to explore beyond the boundaries of traditional audiological care. There is simply no substitute for time and proper engaged listening.”

Over the years, Adam collaborated closely with the IDA Institute in Denmark to assist with generating and providing innovative and actionable knowledge on the human dynamics associated with hearing loss. This association and the knowledge gleaned from it has been invaluable to the team at The Well Being BY CUBEX. An expert facilitator, his passion and decades of experience in the field have fine-tuned his excellent mentorship skills.

Adam is certified as a Tinnitus Advisor by the British Tinnitus Association. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists and a member of the American Academy of Audiology.

He devotes his time between his Marylebone practice, cycling, meditating and sharing time with his family.
