Cubex Weekly TIP - You can measure listening through the eyes
THIS WEEK'S TIP:YOU CAN MEASURE LISTENING THROUGH THE EYES[vision_divider style="hr-solid"]This week, Senior Audiologist and MD of Cubex, Adam Shulberg is proud to be joined by Alison Stone, Audiologist & Training Manager at Oticon, a leading hearing technology based company in Denmark and part of the Eriksholm Research Centre. We know that cognitive load is a silent consequence of hearing loss. With fewer sounds, poorer quality and less information being delivered to the brain, hearing and listening can be just like reading a book where key letters or words are missing. This requires use of long-term memory and our working memory becomes stressed and overloaded making it even harder to focus. On this week’s TIP, Alison talks about a method used by Oticon and the Eriksholm Research team that measures the level of cognitive load and listening effort through the eyes.[vision_divider style="hr-solid"][vision_divider style="hr-solid"]
The studies measured the effect of hearing loss on cognitive processes so that we can understand how certain hearing technologies can impact positively on the brain.
- Alison Stone, Audiologist & Training Manager for OticonThe ability to measure the effect of hearing loss on cognition could significantly improve the lives of people with hearing loss.

[vision_divider style="hr-solid"]Living with hearing loss is tiring and it affects our memory and ability to recall information. We need to use so much cognitive resource in order to hear that it leaves us with fewer resources for other functions and so, getting through the day can be very stressful, frustrating and isolating. Our cognitive capacity is finite and at Cubex we have a real appreciation and understanding of how best to use our limited cognitive capacity as effectively as possible.Strategies, tools, techniques and technology used in our treatment and management plans aim to help you make the best use of your cognitive capacity so that you can do more and remember more information more with greater ease and less stress.
