New funding for tinnitus research

The British Tinnitus Association have teamed up with hearing healthcare charity, Action on Hearing Loss, to co-fund research into tinnitus. This will be awarded as PhD funding for an up-and-coming tinnitus researcher.Currently, there is no known cure for tinnitus which can cause stress, anxieties, cognitive decline, sleeping disorders and depression for those experiencing it. It is so important that we keep engaging in further tinnitus research so that we can get closer to finding a cure and developing treatment programmes.

Cubex mindfulness-based cognitive approach

Cubex has developed a CALM programme based on the current research which has found that a mindfulness-based cognitive approach helps to significantly reduce the severity of tinnitus. A clinical mindfulness approach looks to target the perceived severity of tinnitus and the resulting psychological distress. The CALM programme is for anyone with tinnitus, hearing loss or anyone with an unhealthy level of stress, as its goal is to expand awareness and increase a persons capacity to engage with the world with greater ease, calm and clarity.CALM is far more than just a tinnitus treatment programme – it combines clinical support with wellness lifestyle approaches, designed to help people rejoin the important conversations in life. We use a combination of audiological technology, lifestyle practices, cognitive training, psychology, clinical mindfulness and meditation. Our approach supports the current research around tinnitus, but we continue to work alongside the British Tinnitus Association and other leaders in the field to provide the best possible treatment for tinnitus and hearing loss patients.
