Introducing the worlds first hearing aid with Biometric Calibration - Phonak Virto™ B
First came the fingerprint, then the retina scan. Now, it’s all about the ear! These distinct parts of our bodies are unique to every individual and because they are unique, they can be used for biometrics. But what exactly is biometrics?
Each ear is unique, each ear hears differently[/divider]Biometrics is the measurement of people's physical and behavioral characteristics that are mainly used for identification and access control. It’s something we’re all becoming accustomed to as innovation and personalization moves forward. For example, many smartphones have an integrated finger scan; biometric passports are standard today- even photographs can be sorted according to facial recognition. And now, this technology has made its way to hearing.Taking every individual ear anatomy into account, Phonak has developed Virto™ B, the world’s first hearing aids with Biometric Calibration.
Why is this important?
Just like a fingerprint, every ear is unique. Even our left ear differs from our right. The distinctive characteristics of our ear anatomy has an influence on how sound is captured, directed towards the ear drum and converted into information that the brain can understand and therefore, by using biometric technology, we are now able to utilize biometric data to customize hearing aids to a specific individual.Developed in Switzerland, the proprietary hearing aid modeling software from Phonak measures and analyzes the unique characteristics of an individual’s ear anatomy and identifies over 1600 biometric data points. It then calculates the unique calibration settings of each custom made Virto B instrument. Saved into the hearing instrument memory, these calibration settings enables Virto B to more reliably sense where sound is coming from ensuring increased accuracy and precision and providing more improvement in hearing speech in noise when compared to Phonak products without Biometric Calibration. This is truly a new era for hearing aid treatment technology and takes customization to the next level.
Fully automatic for effortless listening everywhere
What makes Virto B so special is its unique operating system called AutoSense OS™. It automatically senses the listening environment in real-time and accurately adapts to your surroundings.AutoSense OS analyses the sounds around you every 0.4 seconds and can identify whether you’re in a noisy restaurant, car, concert hall or at home. It draws upon multiple audiological features, blending them to create over 200 distinct settings to precisely match your sound environment. The result is a seamless listening experience when moving from one environment to another. All you need to do is turn on the hearing aids and enjoy conversation wherever you go!
There is a range of wireless accessories to boost the performance of your hearing aids if needed. To enable you to understand even more while watching TV, talking on the phone or listening to music, there is a range of wireless solutions available to suit your every need.
